The difference Peter is "plus 2 bikes return" Well worth the extra to have your bike there, don't you think. LOL Mind you, if you partake of all the wine and stuff you mention it would be safer leaving the bike in Windermere. B-) Hope you all have good trips with or without your bikes. Older, Smoother, Cheaper to insure.

But If I took the bike, I too might get pulled by the Police!! So, better leave it safely in Newcastle, yes, Newcastle does have safe parking places, and remember not to drink too much at the Party Time in the Columbus Club. Some only go to bed as the sun rises! DFDS have come down a lot in my estimation, poor service for bikers and awful timekeeping.... In fact i've sworn I wont use them again. If I ever go back to Norway it'll be the long ride around Denmark, Sweden etc |

Here we are, sat at Royal Quays Newcastle, waiting to set sail to Stavanger for an overnight cruise. Had some of wine found in my cabin, which I drank, looking at the wonderful view from my wide cabin window lying on my double bed! Honourable Lake District Ambassador to ride-out.com

Now, now boys. Enough mud-slingin' Everyone knows an Ormskirk White is a shark, not a whale. Unlike the Windermere Humpfront which is! Enjoy the trip Peter, nice weather for cruisin'. Older, Smoother, Cheaper to insure.

Sad about the 340 job losses. They worked the crew on the Norway ship VERY hard!

It is only a month ago when I was on MS Queen of Scandinavia having a great time. Great shame, because as Paul said the crew do work hard. Reminds me, haven't posted any photo's yet, so here goes My Cabin, where I could watch the oil rigs as we passed by
This is Stavanger town, where went to the Canning museum, and yet another glass was handed out, and more liquid poured in
This is the view from my bedroom window, over the Lake at the SAS Radisson Atlantic
Next day, up the Fjords, catching water for my Whisky
The view from the boat at one of the many bridges
We had a truely wonderful time, everywhere we went, someone was giving us a glass, and pouring liquid into it! Even given Sterling Drinking Vouchers and told to go to Duty Free to "gather" our entertainment. Told to put the bottles on a table at the Radisson, but no one said if they had to be full or empty at this stage! Great shame that so many we met will now lose their jobs, but pleased that we experienced Norwegian Hospitality that did not involve Policemen! Had hoped to organise a return trip in the future, so I could explore more of Norway, rather than the brief verision we had, and having met so many, what a trip that would have been! What - Going from Hull? Why do all my best routes disappear from me, like Heysham to Belfast three years ago, that was another great trip, and Northern Ireland is just great to explore. Mind you some of the Hotel Manager's aren't bad either, Cara is only 29 and about the same age as both Breeta and Adeline, we had a great time in Norway together! and you need to know no more! Sod it! That's sad news about the route closure; I'm planning to go to Norway next June, looks like it will have to be the 'Long way round', and a complete revision of route within Norway. Hmmph! And I have happy memories of that route as well... Dave. |
